Voice control for your motorhome with RP Smart Assist! RP Motorhomes is set to unveil its newest model, the Rebel Raid, with its most sophisticated onboard technology yet. Both will debut at the Caravan, Camping & Motorhome Show at the NEC this month (18 to 23 February).
With RP’s exclusive Smart Assist system, you’ll be able to talk to your ’van to control features such as lighting and heating. No more searching for switches and control panels, you can just, for example, say out loud “bed-time mode” to turn off the lights while keeping the heating at just the right temperature for sleeping. Two intense years in development, the Smart Assist system is unique to RP Overland. Created in-house at the company’s Leeds HQ, it uses the latest generation iPad mini to communicate with your motorhome and has its own internal e-sim imbedded into its software. As well as providing feedback to the vehicle’s owner, both by email and through the app, it will talk to RP Customer Support to help owners avoid typical problems such as frozen water tanks or flat batteries. Not only will it protecting your vehicle, Smart Assist can look after your pets, too. Caught in a queue at the supermarket while your dog is in the ’van? The system will monitor the vehicle’s interior temperature and message you if it rises above a pre-set figure. Too hot for Fido? Just remotely switch on the climate control (a fully automotive onboard air-conditioning system that can be re-gassed at the annual habitation check).
In addition to monitoring habitation functions such as the water system, heater, boiler, air-conditioning, fridge and lighting, Smart Assist will communicate with the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter 4x4 base vehicle, so you’ll never again need to worry about a flat battery. And it’ll do so wherever you are in the world.
And, of course, with the iPad mini you can check your emails, use the high-definition camera and listen to music.
